Capt. Thomas Carper- I was born in the year 1914. I grew up with two wonderful parents and my older sister Lynda. I was born in New York City. My father worked as an architect for 18 years until he was laid off in 1932. My mother stayed at home as any usual woman did in my area. Manhattan was an enormous city filled with many people. My father was to old to join the army at his age. My uncle, however, was drafted in 1917 when the United States entered the Great War against Germany. My uncle was one of my best friend. He came over every weekend  and we went to the park to play baseball with my best friend. He was KIA'd 3 months after we joined
